Places for People has appointed groundworks contractors to a £246m framework covering 13 regional lots across England and Scotland.
Coinford Central and RJ McLeod secured the widest coverage, with places on six lots each. M&J Evans Construction and Houlihan & Co each won four lots. MV Kelly, Erith, Tamdown, O’Halloran & O’Brien and Chasetown Civil Engineering are also named among the winners.
The framework’s work ranges from site clearance, bulk earthworks and foundations to drainage, utilities, roads, sewers and external works. Scottish packages add house foundations, completed in-situ concrete floors, plot drainage, retaining wall foundations and ducting for electric vehicle infrastructure.
Greater London is the largest regional package at around £38m. The Berkshire, Hampshire and Dorset package follows at £30m, while East Anglia and the northern Home Counties account for £29m.
The 13 lots cover a wide geographic spread. They include a North West lot for Lancashire, Manchester and Merseyside; a Yorkshire lot for South and West Yorkshire; Central West for West Midlands, Staffordshire and Warwickshire; and Central East for Derbyshire, Leicestershire, Nottinghamshire and Northamptonshire.
In the South East, the framework has a southern lot covering Surrey, Kent, East and West Sussex, and an eastern lot covering Cambridgeshire, Norfolk, Suffolk, Bedfordshire, Buckinghamshire, Hertfordshire and Essex. The South West is split into northern, southern and western packages: Gloucestershire, Oxfordshire and Wiltshire; Berkshire, Hampshire and Dorset; and Bristol, Devon and Somerset.
Scotland has three lots: Central Belt; North 1, limited to the Aberdeen area; and North 2, for which the detailed area is not specified. Greater London forms a separate lot.
Lot lists also identify contractors for individual regions. In Central West, ATD Civils & Groundworks, Erith Group, Hilliard Civil Engineering (Nottingham), M&J Evans Construction, Manvers Main Construction and RJ McLeod are listed. The Central East list includes ATD Civils & Groundworks, Chasetown Civil Engineering, Erith Group, LMH (Civil Engineering), RJ McLeod and Stave-Con.
In the South East — South lot, the firms are ATD Civils & Groundworks, Chasetown Civil Engineering, Erith Group, LMH (Civil Engineering), RJ McLeod and Stave-Con. The South East — East lot names A D Bly Construction, Coinford Central, Houlihan & Co, Kingsheath Construction, O’Halloran & O’Brien and Tamdown Group.
The South West — North lot lists A D Bly Construction, Coinford Central, Houlihan & Co, J L Knight Roadworks, SEH Ipswich and Tamdown Group. The South West — South lot includes Coinford Central, DR Groundworks, John Reilly Civil Engineering, M&J Evans Construction, Renelec Groundworks and Tithegrove.
